Process Simulation of the Energy Supply for Martinswerk

Simulation of the Energy Supply for a Chemical Plant

The task of this project was to develop a digital twin of Martinswerk, enabling an analysis of the current status and, in particular, an evaluation of future changes in the production process concerning CO2 emissions. Economic aspects were always a focus, which could be evaluated and quantified through various setups in the simulation.

Martinswerk is a large German chemical production company, primarily manufacturing aluminum hydroxide and aluminum oxide-based products, especially flame retardants and specialty products.

The digital twin was realized in the form of a process simulation, supplemented by a user tool to ensure the most user-friendly evaluation options. The process simulation now allows for parameter studies, such as analyzing price developments on the overall system.

This project not only expanded our knowledge in the chemical industry but also demonstrated how our expertise and simulation competence can be applied across different industries. We are pleased to have carried out this project in the spirit of the Socotec Green Trust Program, thus contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
