DOLWIN4 and BORWIN4
Introduction of a BIM Strategy
Due to numerous existing and planned wind farms, the transmission network in the coastal region of Lower Saxony is already heavily loaded. The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) has therefore decided to connect two future grid connection systems for offshore wind farms further south in Lower Saxony to the power grid. As the responsible transmission system operator, Amprion has the legal mandate to build the two network connection systems DolWin4 and BorWin4 from the North Sea to Hanekenfähr (Lingen). The Emsland nuclear power plant with an output of around 1,400 megawatts, which will go offline in 2022, is located there right next to the Amprion substation. This will free up transmission capacities towards the load centers in the west and south of Germany at this strong network node, which can be used in the future for the transport of regenerative energy from the offshore wind farms.
